 English Nature is the Government Agency that champions conservation of wildlife and geology throughout England. It is divided into a head office and 22 area teams.
With so many people working in so many places, how does English Nature manage the induction of new starters, especially if they are based in a remote outpost with only a telephone, computer and nature? Until recently, it was very difficult.
Now, English Nature invites new starters to access WelcomeStart, Mighty Media's online e-induction application, on their PC. WelcomeStart resides on the English Nature intranet which is connected through a wide area network to all their sites throughout England.
WelcomeStart ensures that within their first few days, new recruits gain a comprehensive and consistent understanding of English Nature's organisation and policies. To consolidate the e-learning experience, the induction is presented in sections each of which is followed by a short quiz or 'read and understood' tick box. The results can be automatically emailed to a line manager (or other relevant persons) to enable them to track progress.
WelcomeStart is the first of a planned series of e-learning applications from Mighty Media's e-learning team.
